Session Notes · Chrome extension
Install once. Review before every transfer.
Use Chrome on a desktop or laptop. This pilot extension is installed manually, not through the Chrome Web Store.
Download extension · v0.6.11. Install in Google Chrome
- Download the ZIP above and extract it. Keep the extracted folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents.
- In a new Chrome tab, type
chrome://extensionsinto the address bar. - Turn on Developer mode, then click Load unpacked.
- Select the extracted folder containing
manifest.json—not the ZIP file. - Open Chrome’s puzzle-piece menu and pin Session Notes — WebPT Transfer.
If your organization blocks developer-mode extensions, ask its administrator. Do not bypass its policy.
2. Try the fictional rehearsal
Open the WebPT-style TEST MODE page in Chrome. The rehearsal supports localhost and HTTPS on getsessionnotes.com or www.getsessionnotes.com.
- While viewing the rehearsal tab, open the extension and click Load synthetic demo draft.
- Verify Ricardo Barbosa and the fictional service date. Check the explicit TEST MODE confirmation.
- Click Fill TEST MODE fields. Close the popup to inspect the 11 narrative fields.
- Reopen the extension and select Clear synthetic demo fields to empty them and reset the status.
3. Transfer an approved app draft
- Review the Session Notes draft. Optional suggested goals stay outside the note until you add and edit them. Complete all goal targets and timeframes, then mark the note ready.
- Click Copy approved transfer. Ordinary Copy buttons copy readable text, not an extension transfer.
- Open the matching initial examination in WebPT. Select the appropriate examination profile yourself so its objective categories are available.
- Open the extension, import from clipboard, and confirm the client and date. Click Fill configured fields.
- Review the filled, preserved, and manual-entry items in the report. Check every field, then click Save As Draft in WebPT before leaving. Do not rely on autosave. Signing remains a separate clinician action.
The extension can open Other/Additional Comments boxes, fill separate narrative categories, add a consolidated problem list, and add grouped short- and long-term goals. It preserves existing text. Goal duration and completion status remain your choices. Carry-forward findings go into WebPT’s Objective Findings box; they do not represent a new examination.
The local preview’s Copy detailed local test transfer remains separate and works only on the rehearsal page. The optional Sheets sandbox supports legacy four-section transfers only.
If something does not work
- “The clipboard does not contain a valid Session Notes transfer”
- Copy with the detailed transfer button, not a note’s Copy button. A successful import clears the clipboard; copy again if you close the popup before filling. The built-in demo needs no clipboard.
- “Document is not focused”
- Click the recorder tab so Chrome has focus, then click its transfer button again.
- The page needs a refresh, or Fill/Clear fails
- Refresh the rehearsal tab after installing or reloading the extension, then reopen the popup. Refreshing removes unsaved rehearsal text.
- Installing an update
- Extract the new download. Replace the files in the same extension folder, click Reload on its card at
chrome://extensions, and refresh the rehearsal tab. If Chrome asks about the new domain permission, review it before continuing.
What the extension will not do
It never clicks Save, signs, submits, finalizes, or selects diagnoses, billing, evaluation complexity, or treatment frequency. Pain controls, Plan selections, and legacy combined objective narratives require manual entry. WebPT may automatically save text entered into its fields.
The extension keeps imported text in popup memory only, clears it after a fill attempt, and makes no network requests. Text placed on the rehearsal page remains until you clear or reload it. Once text is entered into a third-party platform, that platform’s own storage and autosave behavior may apply.
